The importance of sleep for overall health is well-known. However, many people struggle to get enough rest. A recent study suggests a simple strategy to improve sleep duration: incorporating short resistance training exercise breaks in the evening. The study found that participants who engaged in regular exercise breaks slept an average of 27.7 minutes longer compared to those who remained seated. The exercises used in the study were simple and practical, making them accessible to most individuals. Incorporating evening activity breaks not only improves sleep but also has potential health benefits by reducing sedentary behavior and improving postprandial metabolism.
